Each year, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) convenes an Informatics Training Conference that brings together fellows and faculty from its university-based training programs in biomedical informatics, to showcase their work and to foster collaboration among peers. The 2009 NLM Informatics Training Conference will be held on June 23-24, 2009 at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Marquam Hill Campus. All trainees on full-time NLM appointments as of the date of the conference, including trainees in the NLM-RWJF public health informatics initiative, are expected to attend this meeting. Trainees appointed at the Veterans Administration (VA) sponsored training programs and trainees in the CDC Public Health Informatics training program are also invited to attend and make presentations.

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) supports research training in biomedical informatics at eighteen educational institutions in the United States. These programs offer graduate education and postdoctoral research experiences in a wide range of areas including: health care informatics, bioinformatics and computational biology, clinical research translational informatics, and public health informatics. Many programs also offer additional tracks in areas such as imaging, dental, and library informatics. On Marquam Hill and the main campus
The Marquam Hill Campus is OHSU's largest. It is located south and west of downtown Portland. OHSU's administrative offices are located on Marquam Hill Campus, as well as OHSU Hospital, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, several patient care pavilions housing numerous medical practices; the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing; and multiple research centers and labs.

The Portland Aerial Tram links the Marquam Hill Campus to the South Waterfront Campus and provides a spectacular view of Mt. Hood. From there, a short ride on the streetcar takes visitors to downtown Portland.
